Today, we’re flipping through the pages of my wedding scrapbook and landing on a very special moment – the father-daughter dance! As you might know from previous posts, my wedding colors were a cheerful blend of yellows and blues. So, it was a no-brainer to carry those same happy hues into my scrapbook.
Many of my layouts feature a cluster of 3-4 photos, but for this particular page, I wanted something different. Focusing on just two photos created a clean and elegant base, but also left a lot of empty space begging for embellishments. Since I have a deep love for gardening and flowers, the solution bloomed right before my eyes!
I decided to create a vibrant bouquet of flowers framing the photos. Now, I didn’t want to spend hours hunched over intricate flower designs. Thankfully, my trusty Cricut Joy came to the rescue with a set of simple yet charming flower shapes. These beauties wouldn’t take forever to weed out, allowing me to focus on the joy of crafting.
If you don’t already, I highly recommend investing in the Cricut Joy. It’s the smallest in the Cricut line but don’t let that fool you. It does everything you need to do for paper crafting all while being travel sized. Get yours Today!

To tie back to my wedding theme, I used a gradient of yellows and blues for the flowers. This cohesive color scheme ensured everything flowed beautifully together.
But wait, there’s more! Instead of a plain title like “Father Daughter First Dance,” I wanted something a little more personal. Enter the song that made our special dance even more magical – “My Girl” by the Temptations.
With the photos perfectly placed, the flower bouquet blooming across the page, and a title brimming with sentiment, this layout captured the essence of the father-daughter dance in a way that words alone couldn’t express.
What do you think, fellow scrappers? Do you have any tips for creating layouts with plenty of empty space? I’d love to hear your ideas in the comments below!
